Let’s Talk About Meadowbrook
Clayton’s costs have risen, but our income tax hasn’t changed in 20 years. We are now spending more than we earn.
This is why residents are being asked to approve Issue 6 on the November ballot: to keep basic services intact such as police, fire and road maintenance.
Meadowbrook has existed in the Clayton area for over 100 years. It was a privately owned golf club until it was gifted to the city in 2015. Since it became part of Clayton, it has grown into a community center for sporting events, private and public celebrations and civic meetings.
During Covid, use of the facility fell significantly, and the city paid the deficit cost. Now that events are coming back, we have turned the corner….. However, Meadowbrook was never the cause nor the solution to the deficit Clayton faces.
The course is very popular with local golfers, young and old. it is used for golf leagues, golf tournaments and by the Northmont High School golf teams. The pickleball courts are always in use, and the sport is growing in popularity.
The club house can be rented for weddings, graduation parties, school and family reunions, private parties and the like. Additionally, the city and area civic groups hold meetings and events there. Meadowbrook has become a central social and meeting place for the community.
